I was commenting on tv talking head dude.

Oh

I could care less about that website, lol. They actually said 8 Chan but I intentionally referred to it as 4 Chan out of disrespect.

Nobody cares about 8Chan though. I imagine if any public discussion actually happens the history of 4Chan will mean that it gets the most coverage.

Nobody really cares about 4chan either when 19 people are dead.

Here's what we're gonna see:

More posturing from the left on banning assault weapons

More gaslighting from the right and the NRA, until they run the clock out on that news cycle

And then back to normal

I'm just being cynical I guess... It's probably sincere I just don't personally think it will change anything

I'm not even against banning assault weapons but realistically, you can shoot up a Walmart with a pistol and some pre loaded clips

Are AR-15s better at the job? Maybe somewhat, hard to say how much really when it's one crazed lunatic vs a bunch of helpless civilians. The VA tech shooter killed 30+ people just using pistols.

So why do the killers so often use AR-15s? Cause they "look cool." Why do these people wear bullet proof vests and then turn themselves in to the cops? They think they're Rambo or something. They're staring in a movie in their own head. They worship at the altar of Columbine.

Am I saying don't ban them? Nah, they should ban them. Cause say least then we won't be so easily flooding Mexico and other Central and South American countries with these weapons in the hands of cartels.

But I really don't know what ok to do about the shootings here. My guess is they aren't going to stop either way.

That's an easy generic thing to say but banning one type of gun isn't going to make guns in general less available.

And these mass killings are a fringe thing... They aren't typical of American gun violence which in the vast majority of cases is with either a pistol or a shotgun and is either domestic/personal or gang related

I think an effective gun registry system could do more to prevent legal guns from leaking onto the black market which is what contributes to the gang killings.. which I think is a much bigger problem than these random mass shooters but just not as dramatic or juicy of a news story.

I hear gun shots around here all the time. When I walk to the store it's not the crazed gun man with a manifesto that I worry about. It's depressing.

At least 9 dead, 26 injured in mass shooting in downtown Dayton

Someone explain to me how my cynicism is hyperbolic.

^ This is sad, but quite possible. Like elphenor, I thought the word "posturing" was a bit unkind, and hope that outrage from the left will turn into something more effective, either in legislation or at the ballot box.
We don't hear much about the Parkland kids these days, but they are still out there, I guess, along with that groundswell of opinion that wants to see tighter gun controls.

Breaking news this morning: 9 dead in Ohio shooting. The tv presenter I learned it from actually said, ".... in Dayton, Ohio. That's today, at 1 am today. That's not to be confused with yesterday's shooting...." That "not to be confused" clarification is a pretty depressing acknowledgement of what's going on this weekend.

Ban all guns. Give a 12 month period for people to hand in their guns and receive payment for them then melt the guns down or something. Anyone found in possession of a gun after this is committing an offence and will be prosecuted.
