There's some interesting science behind the whole "young blood makes older people younger" thing, but there's a lot of other initiatives out there that are getting even better results without having to do anything like that, like those pharma companies studying the effects of killing off senescent cells.

I think the startup featured in those articles is likely to fail at this stage.

He looks like Ted Cruz's son.

He looks like someone digitally altered the image to make it look as if the top half of his head is too small for the bottom half. If he was green, he'd be a dead ringer for Shrek.

Everything I saw from anybody not a part of the company basically said "This is safe cause transfusions are safe but other than that probably bunk."

If they're successful then poor young people 16-25 would be kidnapped and turned into vampire slaves. Actually I'm 32 so carry on.

Yeah I read that too.

I’m pretty sure you’ll agree with this but I’m going to post it anyway. Just because something seems like it might work doesn’t mean it will work. For example, you get Vitamin D from sunshine but that doesn’t necessarily mean that taking a Vitamin D supplement is in anyway beneficial for people who never step outdoors. It doesn’t matter if the hypothesis is reasonable. It has to be replicated in controlled experiments until there’s a general consensus in the scientific community. Vitamin D supplements are probably at worst worthless but innocuous so while the jury is out it’s up to you. Plasma or blood is a different animal. It may be very low risk but there’s no reason at all to think there’s anything to be gained. This guy is a doctor. It’s his responsibility to “abstain from whatever is deleterious and mischievous”. There’s some, albeit very small, risk to accepting blood and like Shazam said it’s needed elsewhere. Jesse Karmazin is a ****ing quack, an embarrassment to Stanford, and should be stripped of his medical license and his trousers in preparation for his castration.

My problem with it isn't the science behind it (because it did work on mice) but it's wayyyyyyyyyyyyy too early to launch a commercial venture based around parabiosis when they have no idea if it's truly viable for human beings. They're putting the cart before the unicorn.

Actually I think the guy isn't a doctor. Correct me if I'm wrong.
