This is actually something I've been thinking on very heavily recently.

It is and it's garbage. I mean it all starts with parents and teachers instilling subservience in you, but bosses justify it in the real world when you're an adult who should have absolute freedom to decide your fate and be whoever you want to be.

Every time you hold your tongue when you think you have something to say that a boss might take umbrage with, or even just do what a boss says because they have power over your ability to feed yourself, it degrades you and reinforces the notion that there are people superior to you who you are obligated to treat differently to anybody who doesn't have power over you.

It retards your ability to think freely or believe yourself to be equal to all other humans. It's what conditions people to treat aristocrats and politicians as authority figures to follow. It's what conditions people to simply go along with the flow of society even if that society is murdering six million Jews. It maneuvers your thinking processes to be whatever society decides you should be thinking.

Fair enough. Nothing is all bad.
