Both parties have massive amounts of baggage. But at the end of the day, the Democrats scare a lot of independents + non-committed people off....because nobody really wants higher taxes, yet all of the things that the non-moderates want to do would end up increasing the tax burden on the middle class and above wayyyy beyond anything the Republicans could come up with. At least that's the case in America.

Yeah, higher taxes are terrible. That would mean maybe universal healthcare and better public services, why the fuck would anyone want that. Solidarity with other humans is icky. This is not what America is about! You want socialism movie to Canada, or Europe or some other bolshie place!

Yes this is why fascism appeals to those scared of the left.

Yeah, because a country that can barely handle things the way they are now is going to be so much better with even more money that may or may not go to better public services, healthcare, etc. The U.S. is not Denmark and the cost of living varies greatly depending on the geographic region. One size will not fit all.

Well then maybe you shouldn't vote for the guy increasing defense spending.

If we are going to address a nation's money problems, we need to address how they get that money. Not from taxes, but from loans taken out from private banks, at interest. Our borrowing problems > our spending problems. Until we abolish the private banks and let nations print their own debt-free currency, we are all fucked. Ask JFK and Lincoln how private bankers feel about that topic.

Is there anything word reading on what Merit is talking about that isn't by cranks?

Not really sure what you're saying here but it sounds like you're saying America is cash strapped. Which is absurd. But even if it was, the solution would be to take more money from the rich and spread it out more evenly...or like Charles suggests, spend less money on killing foreigners...

But again, really, this is absolutely not what America is about and it's unlikely it ever will be. The idea of America is about the opportunity for some to get filthy rich, not about everyone being moderately well off. That's why it's crazy successful, because it's liberal capitalism at its worst. And why it's one of the most unequal societies in the world.

But fair play, you want a different society, move to a different country with different ideals. Like Sweden, or Denmark or communist China.

When it takes an entire year to deal with a single piece of paper filed with the IRS, forgive me if I don't have perfect confidence in any sort of system where even more power becomes consolidated in Washington D.C.
