Sorry for trying to get you to think.

No need. We have plenty of gas stations here.

I'll bring the stolen RV, you bring the booze. That's clearly fair.

To me, British politics lately has been depressing, dull and complicated; endless discussion about Brexit with no politician admitting that no-one knows how it'll turn out. That's partly why I find US politics much more compelling, and I'm grateful that people here let me pontificate about the US situation, even though it's not my country. With that in mind:-
John McCain: I learnt on this very forum that he is not quite the all American hero that the mainstream media paint him out to be. Nonetheless, he voted against repealing Obamacare and he was a member of an endangered species; a Republican with a spine. For that he wins my respect. Trump: something that really bugged me was when he sullied a very rare moment in which Native American Indians were honoured for their service to the USA. Did anyone see those old guys? So dressed up, so proud to be in the WhiteHouse; their one moment in the limelight. Trump, with a thoughtless and irrelevant remark about Pocahontas, deflated that once-in-a-lifetime moment, and the media, hypnotised by Trump's every utterance, focused on Trump instead. Well, death is also a once-in-a-lifetime moment, and even if Trump doesn't like McCain he could've done the simple expected thing with the flag and a prompt statement. He could've let McCain's family (and apparently the nation) have their special moment, free of his crass behaviour, but he didn't. Devin Nunes: In your face, Devin! At American taxpayers' expense, DN, the Head of the House Intelligence Committee, flew to London and came back with nothing but a Tower of London ashtray

^ Yes, on here there was a debate which I'd hate to re-open about the morality of fighting as a soldier. That's why I didn't mention McCain's military record.
