I believe putting it on planes is fine as I know flag patches on police, soldiers, and fire fighters is also acceptable, but it's a definite no no on political campaigns. They have "red, white, and blue bunting" for that.

Hmm. Never noticed that tbh. So you can say "Make America Great Again" but not use Old Glory on your posters? ****ing weird, innit? I can understand the desire not to denigrate the flag, like have it on coffee jars or condoms or what have you, but in an election campaign? I mean, everyone who's voting and everyone who's running is going to be American aren't they, so wtf? As Frownland would say, that's whack.

I'm honestly not sure of the specific restrictions, but I believe using the flag for election campaigns is supposed to be frowned upon. US flag etiquette is especially militant so yeah it's weird, but nobody really bothers with it or even knows about it.
