It's true what Lucem says; that it's not just a gun issue, but come on...

I don't even know where these people even get these guns to be honest. Like, if there is such strong gun violence in areas like Chicago that nobody ever talks about because I guess black people dying isn't an issue, and these people definitely are not buying guns legally, would gun laws truly prevent mentally ill white people from obtaining them? I mean, yeah, making it harder is sure to prevent so many of these events, but contrary to popular belief these things are typically planned. Now if a young Chicago kid can get access to automatic rifles illegally, who's stopping a determined James Holmes from doing the same thing? Or what happens when they just turn to bombs? Or they just start stabbing fools? Yeah, less death, but the problem still isn't solved.

I'm just saying that if a person in Denmark decides he needs a gun to go shoot some people, it's going to be difficult. Last shooting I heard of in Denmark that didn't involve gangsters was one hunter shooting another by accident.

Mass availability of guns means easy mass killing. It's not even going to be enough to screen people for mental illness. You need to remove guns from your society to the level of nations without gun stores.

Of course, this won't happen 'till Hell freezes over.

For that matter, it will be better for black communities as well if guns are outlawed. It's prevention of deadly and mass violence.

Maybe, I don't know though. Worth a try, but definitely not the only thing that needs to be talked about. I think the issue is deeper. Cause you also have to remember that a mental evaluation seems to be free in the UK while out here you have to pay for the session and then worry about them falsely diagnosing you with something so they can prescribe you with something that you also have to pay for and probably shouldn't be taking because they jumped at the first chance to prescribe it.

I totally agree. Frequent school/public/etc. shootings are an issue caused by more than one broken system.

Take the studen in this recent Florida shooting, for example. He'd been dismissed from school for misbehaving, but I wonder if any amount of care was given to him before the final straw. He might have shown all sorts of signs of being in need of care.

That high school down in Broward in Florida that got shot up, was my ex girlfriends high school. I checked up on her about it, she has siblings about that age. No harm though, apparently that side of her family relocated to Jacksonville a while back. But still, I feel bad for her. I'm sure that's ****ing with her head a little bit.

I'm old enough to remember when a lot of high schools in the U.S. had gun clubs for the students. Some even had shooting ranges on school grounds. My high school didn't have a shooting range but we had a gun club where you could shoot .22 caliber pistols & rifles and/or learn to shoot skeet at a local shooting range.

School shootings by students were very rare and I can't recall ever hearing of one back then that involved a mass shooting with multiple deaths of other students.
