It turns out water is wet

Quote:
As I argued in a recent essay, transgenderism is now out of fashion – the hot girls no longer regard it as cool, and the Left increasingly regard it as a political liability. We are now in the midst of a process of unwinding that will no doubt be frustratingly slow. The true believers will cling on for a long while yet, not least – as Helen Joyce has always argued – the parents who pushed for the medical mutilation of their children, who will resist reality until the bitter end. Nonetheless, this chapter of British political history is coming to a close. And, with any luck, other countries will soon follow our example.

That's what many of the headlines sound like at the moment

But this thread is nothing if not inclusive of opposing perspectives, which is why I will be also featuring the voices of those adversely affected by the Supreme Court ruling

prob no a new idea at all, but about terms,
why can't we have 'man' and 'woman' for women and men by sex and 'whatever_new_word' and 'whatever_new_word_2'' for women and men by gender?
I don't mind ppl have gender, but why we should replace old meaning with really different one? It brings so much confusion imo..

I think most people can agree it's confusing, except those who use these terms to bully you into accepting their picture of the world. They know exactly how many genders can fit on the point of a pin.

Well now we know: after the supreme court ruling that water is wet, turns out that Keir Starmer is also of the opinion that water is wet.

Starmer does not believe trans women are women, No 10 says

Judge rules Scottish schools must provide single-sex lavatories

Quote:
A judge has ordered that Scottish schools must provide single-sex lavatories for pupils after parents won a legal fight against a council which insisted on installing only gender-neutral facilities.
In a case hailed as the “first of many” in which the rights of women and girls will be upheld following last week’s Supreme Court ruling, Scottish Borders council conceded it had been wrong to flout the law by installing no sex-segregated bathrooms at the new Earlston Primary School.

It's striking how you've gone full circle. You have a big trait in common with the usual stamp of internet incels: an urge to impress your 'superiority'* (usually intelligence-related) upon others in an off-putting, socially maladjusted way, by putting others down cheaply. You arrived on this forum doing that, you were called out on it, and you reacted well to that, and I remember liking you for it. Now you've completely sunk back to where you started. Sad!

*(Often caused by an inferiority complex, of course, but I won't make any amateur-psychological guesses about your relationship with your father)

Some of this is true for sure. I have unpleasant sides to my personality that get amplified in an anonymous online forum where I don’t have to worry about social sanction. And where my obsessiveness* gets free rein.

A couple of buts.

The first time around I felt bad about bullying poor old Trollheart. He and some of the others have since reminded me that the most pitiable are also the most vicious when they find groups of people that can be designated as legitimate targets for righteous outrage. So however poorly it reflects on me I’m fine with mocking and venting against those addicted to manufactured victimhood. In practice, I’m not entirely sure that your position of always being à côté du bien is more defensible. It certainly has led you to accepting some morally cretinous positions.

*Triggered in this case by my Soviet background. If you're gonna tell me that in the name of a hegemonic ideology of collective good a certain topic is off limit, I'll never shut up about it. If you (not you personally in thsi case) say that posing questions about the trans ideology is a thought crime then I'm opening a thread just for that.

It becomes a huge game of punching down when you're reacting to the validity of people's lives who are already some of the most traumatized, vulnerable populations of the world.

Trans people have existed since the beginning of human history and they will long outlive any social movements to destroy them.

I hate that so many think that transness is something offensive towards ones worldview, and that their confusion will be met with malice, what a terrible lie that's been thrust on people's worldviews, whittling down entire groups of people into one possible mindset.

Most trans people I know are very tired, if someone gets upset over not being gendered correctly that doesn't mean that the "ideology" is aggressive. Most of us shy away from standing up for ourselves, a lot of us are scared and in the closet, only the most visible of us are the biggest targets and what a sad world. It takes having to unpack your ****, for years, and some of us are luckier than others to realize it younger in life. What a world that as soon as you start understanding yourself, the convergence of your traumas in the world, what you mean to yourself, how you've longed for the world to see you and you know in your heart, that the world starts telling you that you're wrong, that you're a freak, that you deserve death you unnatural heathen.

It's a tale as old as whenever they started queer-bashing that they began to dehumanize trans people as people that were less than that, undeserving of life itself. And after having figured out their **** no less, people making up these narratives for us, most people that think all these things about the "trans agenda" or whatever have never talked to a trans person.

I know surely these words might fall on deaf ears, and that I'm in for intellectual retaliation having even said them, but know that nothing I said was in malice or hatred for your person. In fact me saying this makes me even further a target, not just to you but to the entire world that sees people like me as something to step on. My government has multiple targets on my head and I'm scared as I am hopeful for social change. I'm realizing the extents and intersections of my transness and the world wants me to die because I understand that.

A lot of people are purely, jealous of the freedom of person that presents them. A lot of these lawmakers would loveee to be fruity and shed their fragile masculinity, but they make these laws because they want to control what they're scared to let themselves have. I'd say this is true for the general populace as well. I know plenty of cis men who hang out with trans people and are shining examples of men that are comfortable in their gender and sexuality, they might explore a bit past that, but consider themselves men nonetheless. The men I am referring to are ones that would grumble and gripe walking past visibly queer people. Psychologically, the traits you hate most in others are ones you surely have within yourself.
