Default Patsy Cline

I have never been much of a fan of country music. Still don't listen very much. I bought my wife a Patsy Cline album for Christmas. The first time I listened to it I was all but blown away. The thought that came to mind was that Patsy Cline was much, much better than the material she was given to work with. What would the world have today if she were still with us? No doubt the music would have gotten better just to accommodate her voice and talent, but would we perhaps have gotten a new genre. With my lack of knowledge and experience with country music not withstanding I would like put forth the proposition that Patsy Cline is perhaps the best female vocalist, (or vocalist, male or female) in the whole history of country music (or any genre for that matter). Am I out of bounds here or maybe I have a point. Any thoughts, comments, or criticisms would be most welcome.

I have to say i only know the one tune by her (crazy) nicely done great voice and all,but not a patch on Willies version though.

What on earth did you say to the wife when she got you that? You said you were no country fan before, does she often buy you unusual gifts?

Agree with you there, burnerzz, Patsy Cline was an incredible talent. The world was robbed of someone very special when it lost her. Her voice had such depth, emotion.....at least we have some recordings.

I hear you there, Kali...I love a lot of different styles of music, but country is not one of my favored genres. I have to listen to every form of music in what I do, but you probably won't find a country CD in my home or car. But, I am a firm believer that there is good in every style, and country music, has some gems in it too. A taste for it can be acquired. Hang in there!
