Default Identify country song by story (no lyrics)?

Hi all,

My wife gave me a challenge: she heard a country song long ago (20yrs ago? Not exactly sure) and does not remember the melody nor the lyrics. She *does* remember a small part of the story. Can you help?

The story: the song talks about a devoted husband. His wife and him are old(er?) now, but still he wakes up every morning and goes to town to get her those things she likes. The song says you can count on seeing him in town every morning.

That's all I have, sorry!
God bless.

Possibly "She is His Only Need" by Wynona Judd?

I'd post a link to Youtube, but I haven't made enough comments yet so I'm not allowed. However, here are some of the lyrics from it (and you can find it on Youtube if it sounds plausible.

Ring on her finger and one on the ladder
A new promotion every now and then
Bonnie worked until she couldn't tie her apron
Then stayed at home and had the first of two children
And my, how the time did fly
The babies grew up and moved away
Left 'em sitting on the front porch rocking
And Billy watching Bonnie's hair turn gray

And ev'ry once in a while you could see him get up
And he'd head downtown
'Cause he heard about something she wanted
And it just had to be found
Didn't matter how simple or how much
It was love
And, boy, ain't that love just something
When it's strong enough to keep a man goin'

Default Thank You!

Thank you so much. Hundreds of views and you got it right.

Between posting the original question and now I wrote a program to scrape the country billboard charts, extract song names, then automatically Google for the lyrics, and look for specific keywords in all the lyrics. I downloaded close to a thousand songs by now, but didn't find it since I had the year wrong.

Anyway -- you helped make my wife really happy, and that's everything.

God bless.
