There are many throat singing and overtone singing traditions around the world and also lots of modern singing with those elements. Any fans here?
Some examples: Huun-Huur-Tu might be among the more famous tuvan groups: Huun Huur Tu - Chiraa-Khoor - YouTube Sainkho Namtchylak, also from Tuva, mixes traditional music with more modern and experimental stuff. Here seen doing something more traditional though. Khöömii singing (Sainkho Namtchylak) - YouTube Oidupaa Vladimir Oiun might be a more obscure example. His music is unusual, because the tuvan singing is accompanied by the bayan, a russian type of accordeon 01 - How The Shadow Is Clear (Divine Music From A Jail, 1999) - Oidupaa Vladimir Oiun - YouTube A breathtakingly beautiful piece by the immensely talented mongolian singer Enkhjargal Dandarvaanchig, mostly known as Enkh Jargal. Mongolian Overtone Singer , amazing - YouTube Some western overtone singing by Christian Bollmann. A little too "new age" perhaps, but nonetheless beautiful and technically astounding. Obertongesang, Christian Bollmann - YouTube Two clips by Christian Zehnder, a swiss singer who mixes throat singing, yodeling and other styles into something probably best described as imaginary folklore. zehnder - picnic with the monk - part two - YouTube zehnder - picnic with the monk - part one - YouTube |
