is it still possible to be innovative in folk music?
So...
Is it possible to still innovate in Folk music anymore? I'm talking about somewhat more traditional sounding folk...more standard, you know. So less of that psych-folk etc and more Jeff Buckley Is it still possible to be innovative in that style anymore? I've heard Bon Iver are great, but I'm not sure how they sound like.... But yeah, what do you guys think? |

A lot of what is referred to as folk I find to be far more singer songwriter stuff or fauxk as I like to call it. I think that traditional folk can have new things happening just as much as other genres. Just chuck in obvious influence from other genres or summat.

It's always possible to inject innovation into a genre. The more interesting question is is innovation important? Whether traditional or cutting edge, tested or innovative, good music is good music and nothing else matters to me.
