Do you think a music forum is unaware of this?
Perhaps there is another more practical reason for it, like consolidation for activity reasons?

That's my understanding of the situation, although I am also a bit displeased by it. The sad truth is that very few solid members are world/country music fans, and the content in those forums is definitely less than in the other genres.

Actually, they are about 1,000 different things.
Why is Brazilian music lumped together with Tibetan?

There really aren't enough fans on MB of either of those genres to justify their own categories. Takes up space. Also, if you're passionate about Tibetan and/or Brazilian music, it may be better to join forums dedicated to those genres only. Because you definitely won't find that many fans here.

I'm not referring to the actually existing content in World Music or Country. I'm referring to posted content from contributors here at MB. You'll find that many of the members of this forum are metal, rap, electronic, or indie music fans. Or maybe not. Is there a poll around for that?

Of course if you have any insight or recommendations in a particular genre you could find an existing thread or start a new one if there isn't one. I for one appreciate any new leads in finding great world music. Unfortunately the lack of interest can be rather disheartening but there are a number of regulars. There is also the Folk and International Roots album club which would welcome any new contributors.
