Merlefest coming up and other festivals

What are some of your favorite festivals to attend? Merlefest is in my backyard so I always go. My group plays on the Plaza stage every year. We have a friend that flies in from Finland to hang out for 2 weeks with us. Always a blast. We actually have a cool music video now . Title is Raven by the Graybyrds. I will post the link later if anyone is interested. it is on youtube.

Actually, graybyrds, you´ll find that MB has some specific rules against self-promotion. You may like to check out the Introductions forum.

In the meantime, you could tell us about Merlefest; where is it? any big-name bands? what kind of music turns up?

Sorry about that. The Merlefest is in Wilkesboro North Carolina. It starts next Thursday and runs thru Sunday. Charlie Daniels is opening it up and the Avett Brothers are closing it out. There are several stages going on at the same time. Total attendance is around 100k they say. It is an Americana / Bluegrass festival. More on the Americana side now I would say.

Wow, that´s a lot of people ! Sounds like a good festival, and reminds me that I have some Avett Brothers material that I downloaded but never listened to.
If you dig around here, you´ll find plenty of threads on Americana/Bluegrass artists. Do you have any personal favourites, graybyrds ?
