On John Wesley Harding, Tom Paine gets a mention, and presumably all the people in Hurricane are real too.

I remember the Special, but I never heard of Ran & Special. I presume "Ran" is short for something ?

Sorry! One of my typos. That should have read "Ram & Special"- a bottle of Ram Rod mixed with a half pint of special

Yes, London Pride. Very nice. Fullers also do ESP (I think?) which is even better.
