The Searchers were the first group to take a folk song and give it a rock treatment. Recorded in 1964 a year, before The Byrds "Mr. Tambourine Man", The Searchers covered Malvina Reynolds folk song about nuclear fallout entitled "What Have The Done To The Rain".

Speaking of folk rock, I think one of the very best to come along in the last 10 years is KT Tunstall and she has a new recording due out in just a couple weeks... Check out her last CD if you are not familiar. Very original, well recorded, terrific musicians, and gorgeous songs.
