String bass player, music director, composer and arranger, Pedro was active starting in the '30s and not unlike many of his contemporaries he grew under the strong influence of the early jazz music coming off Colombian big city radio stations in those years. Pedro mixed that tradition with the Caraibic sounds coming from his native city of Cartagena, creating a special blend that made him one of the most popular Caribbean and South American artists during the 60's.
