__________________________________________________ _____________ Sometimes, it's not the recommended artist themselves that you pick up on, but another artist mentioned inside that rec. It was while checking out Hallelujah Chicken Run Band that I came across this compilation album: Sweet As Broken Dates:- Bandcamp album link: https://ostinatorecords.bandcamp.com...horn-of-africa This track from the album, by the Sharaf Band, has a medium-paced ramshackle sound that I really like:-

The lady on that cover looks like she hates the record.

That's true! She looks horrified by how the typeface of the title worked out.
I like the cover though: the colours, the retro-style graphics and the little glimpse of vintage Somalia.

Anyone who likes Cesaria Evora or Omara Portuondo will surely enjoy this album, with its broken Latina voices and jazzy piano interludes, but this album comes with some great African choral stuff too. One standout track - Oiaymeló- starts at 9:10:-
