I guess the accordeon-sounding keyboard makes this kinda folky, so...

^ That's a nice cheerful tune. The singer looks a bit like Leonard Cohen to me - apart from the fact that he's cheerful of course.
In general, Madredeus (from Portugal) are a little too smooth for my liking, but this track gets a welcome bit of edginess with the strings:- Actually, I've hit a bit of a slack period in terms of exciting new (or old) world music lately, so I'd welcome some recs: something thin, raw and wild would be good! |
A bit too overly classical for me, I need to listen to a typo music with a rough edges in other words not so polished and in a sense experimental!

^ Thanks, MicShazam, that's a great track :thumb:
Lots of interesting jazzy things going on, with a touch of I don't know what Asian country. I particularly like it at about 3 mins in when it slows down a little for the guitar solo. |
Lamia Bedioui
Good morning to everybody,
After a trip ,the past summer ,to some folk festivals in Europe ,with great moments and good memories, I got back to my base and while watching on youtube some nice ethnic-folk bands, I discovered accidentally this singer and I would like to share with you. Her name is Lamia Bedioui, from Tunisia but based in Greece. Check her latest video on youtube, called : Lamia Bedioui & Solis Barki - Fin'amor (official video 2017) |

Natural Imperfections Album by Bernie Krause and Country Joe McDonald This is a little lost gem. |
Not specifically a country artist but here's Carolyn Wonderland covering "Honey Bee" by Billy Joe Shaver (one of the original "outlaw country" artists)...

Good afternoon
An other folk singer that I also like a lot is a Scottish multi-instrumentalist Julie Fowlis. Check any of her videos on youtube. There are all favorite. |
