Looking for a good blend of soul and folk (not Van Morrison).

Welcome to MB, v2gls

I listened to a couple of tracks from the album you recommend - my first impression is that it's not so much country/folk as a kind of indie/pop, so you could look there for something similar. But please don't imagine that I'm chasing you out of this section! Any contributions are welcome here, perhaps even my own, which is the 1999 album, Skanzen by Hungarian band Makám:-

Ewan Maccoll, with one of the most poignant songs of protest ever writ imo:-

Not sure it's the right thread, but there's yodeling and a generally folkloristic vibe.
Pretty insane and hilarious stuff.

Unclassifiable. A new wrinkle in country-rock.

Yes, that's some beautiful singing, grindy; doesn't sound too new agey to me. I love the way his voice drops down a dozen octaves to those low drone notes! I wonder where he's from?

And this woman has one or two interesting guitar techniques - maybe some MB guitar players might like to try them:-

I am searching for artists creating professional and original tribal, oriental, shaman music. Use this song as an example:

Please nothing like these CDs you could buy on your local supermarket. I am looking for original music.

Regards
