Well, AmbientHound, if you`re still around after waiting two months for a response, I`d say :-
All the Fela Kuti material I`ve found has been pretty good, and I particularly like Shakara from 1972. If you want to hear someone different, Antibalas Afrobeat Orchestra have a lot of the same raw power as FK:-

Soooo much Celtic music out there I don't even know where to begin! In a way, Celtic music is the folk music of Europe and therefore, any folk music in Europe can essentially be considered Celtic music..
Note that; Some of these bands I am posting are folk/Celtic metal bands, but some, their songs though are very Celtic influenced.. And although Celtic metal is my favorite, this would not be the proper thread for it.. I am generally more fond of Celtic music when it has vocals, vocals and lyrics though is a new tradition to it but how it started out is singing in pubs when they were very drunk, they would need something very easy and mellow to sing which is why so many of the songs are like sing-a-longs in a way, this is why it includes drunken singing.. I agree, I hate the meditation crap, unless I am going to actually MEDITATE, which is very rarely, I don't like anything too damn slow, I am very instrumental, I wanna hear more than one instrument, acoustics and all kinds of wind instruments, drums even.. Sadly, the best Celtic music of today is found in metal bands, sad uh? I know.. I have posted celtic songs with vocals but that do not include drunken singing (Although Alestorm and Korpiklaani are pretty epic).. Posted some good instrumentals as well.. Some of my favorites; Last edited by Eyrothath; 06-06-2012 at 10:10 AM. |

Both of you guys might be interested in the band that recently won a FAIR album club poll:-
http://www.musicbanter.com/country-f...oglenifty.html Eyrothath, I`ve tried the first half of your Celtic clips; thanks. They share a top-quality, professional sound, though personally, I usually prefer a rougher edge to my Celtic music. Joshmartin, yours is a good question, but I`m not sure if it`s one that`s worth asking twice. Instead of opening this thread, you could`ve tried acknowledging some of the answers you received when you asked the same question back in 2010 :- http://www.musicbanter.com/country-f...-bands-12.html

His drummer, Tony Allen, has some good records of jazzy afrobeat.

I went and got a massage yesterday and all I could think while I was lying there was how much I enjoyed the music. I'm not exactly sure what you'd call it but it was very slow and droning Asian-sounding music with lots of low throat singing, gongs, some slow erhu and the occasional low flute. Anyone have any thoughts on where I can find music like this or even what it's called? Basically, I'm looking for stuff that sounds like the music that starts at about 1:30 in this video:
