Bombay Bicycle Club
Bombay Bicycle Club
http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/zanelowe/...icycleClub.jpg (^That's them) A four piece indie band from London (stop yawning, they're good, honest). They've been around a couple of years, doing gigs and releasing EPs, they won some 'road to V' competition in 2006 (which every article about them ever still bangs on about so why break with tradition and not mention it here). And if you want to find out more about that sort of thing you can always check wikipedia. Anyway I've seen them live quite a few times now, and they're brill. Their album I Had the Blues But I Shook Them Loose was released (in the UK, at any rate) back in July but missed out on the Top 40 by about 6 spots (about 6 Michael Jackson albums got in the chart that week though). It's good. So... any fans on here? Here is their latest single, Magnet: YouTube - Bombay Bicycle Club - Magnet |
I loved them before the release of the album, but found that too much of it was recordings I'd previously heard. However, if you haven't heard anything by them before then I'd highly suggest downloading it.
And I can't believe they missed out on the top 40...? They're popular on the festival circuit and seem to have a lot of young fans. |
Really good debut album, it's inconceivable to think that they're only 18-19 when you're listening to it, quite impressive musical maturity for such young things.

They're WHAT??
|
Yep, crazy init. They were 17 when they recorded the album.
|
Holy fucking shit. I thought they were pushing thirty or something. Wow. Just wow...O.O
Anyhow, I really like their sound but haven't really been obsessing about the album as I should have. Other stuff just keeps getting in the way. |
Tango in the attic
Tango just been confirmed as support for BBC's Glasgow gig.
Can't wait. love both these bands. Check Tango out: myspace.com/tangointheattic. Check em out and get to Glasgow!! |
Are you a member perchance? Proposterous idea i know.
|
not too impressed but not bad. just nothing to rave about.

I agree that it's difficult to appreciate the album as an album if you are already familiar with their stuff. Some of those songs are years old. I still really like What If though. I'm going to see them again tomorrow night :) |
Just based on the music, I didn't really pay attention to what they look like. I'm crazy jealous (of their talent and your location). >:[

Bombay Bicycle Club
I was musing as to what sort of opinion posters had regarding these guys but to my amazement a search brought up nothing.
They've got two albums out. The first one is a little more electric-y and upbeat in general, the second one is a little slower and more acoustic with some variations upon a theme. Really lovely stuff. They're also playing at my Fresher's Festival. Marvellous. Some ear food: |
What kind of search did you do? http://www.musicbanter.com/indie-alt...ycle-club.html *unsure*
|
I clicked search, typed Bombay Bicycle Club, hit enter and found nothing :P

Threads merged.

Why are they in this forum? It's like somebody has just looked at the name and thought "Ah! Bombay! World music!"
|
Their second album is folky. Their first album is indie. Makes them hard to place.
|
They're pretty much Indie. Yeah the second has a folky vibe to it but I wouldnt say it's a folk album. I'm being a genre nazi so I'll just be quiet.
|
Absolutely cracking second album. Saw them at the Camden Barfly last weekend and I can't recommend them enough. Decent live band for sure.
