Alrite, I preordered this album (although didnt come untl four days after day of release.) To be honest it wasnt as good as I was expecting. (i was hoping for another 'Ragged Glory') I had heard 'Fork In The Road' on youtube and loved it. Its not a bad album (most of the songs are about his car) the lyrics are comical at times but I dont think it is a serious album from Neil Young. I had kind of likened it to 'Living With War' without the political theme at first but not so sure now.
Anyone?

This is an unfair comment, in your opinion but if you rate artists by the age they are then you obviously dont really care about the music and are just one of these hip/trend followers who are destroying the music industry as we speak!. To me it doesnt matter what age an artist is; if they have talent then they have it regardless of age; with people like Neil Young + Bob Dylan they have remarkable talent and it doesnt just diminish once they hit 50 or 60.

Hey, im not saying i don't like Neil Young because I do. I'm saying he hasnt come out with anything good in a long while including Fork In The Road. and before you jump to conclusions about me you should look at more of my posts. and you mentioned I probably dont like bob dylan because he is old well go look at my bob dylan post on his thread and you might learn something.

and I stand by what I said. and yes this is my opinion. you shouldnt have made this thread if you didnt want people to tell you their opinions on this worthless album

To me Greendale was an excellent album. Silver and Gold was excellent. His last few have been ok. And I am a huge Neil Young fan. Artists hit and miss just like everything else. It's probably just a matter of time before he releases something really good.

Look at Paul Mcartney. Now his days might be over. He still pumps them out. Nobody buys them but he still pumps them out. Of course I like Mcartney, I grew up with the Beatles. But I have'nt bought anything by him in many,many years. I buy his live dvd's though.

Will be checking out Neil's new one soon. Also I would'nt consider Neil Young A folk musician.

I put it in the genre I thought would be most suitable. He is most widely considered as a country artist. It is difficult to place him though as he has covered such a wide range of genres.

All you typed was 'Neil Youngs Days Are Over'. You didnt explain, so how am i supposed to know what youre thinking. And I cant be bothered looking to see what posts you have done etc etc. Just because you like Waylon Jennings doesnt mean you are at heart with all old music.
Well the question was what do you think of neil youngs new album? So if i didnt want opinions I wouldnt have posted it in the first place duh.
I do think the new album was good but nothing special and I would have personally preffered another Ragged Glory but to say Neil Youngs days are over is just stupidity. Doesnt matter what age he is he could put out another great album at any time. Also I think you have just become jaded. You need to keep an open mind when it comes to music, especially neil young. I think 'Praire Wind' had some beautiful songs. I do also agree though he hasnt really done a 'great' album from start to finish for quite a while now though (i would say since Broken Arrow) but that doesnt make him a write off. I can still appreciate his music for all hes done before.

Nope.......N.Y. was a rock musician in the 60's. Now we have all these different genres. There is probably 17 different types of metal, plus a few I have'nt even heard of. New country (which all sounds the same to me) classic country, and so forth. Yes N.Y. has done some country stuff,mostly rock stuff, and even some cutting edge "transformer" stuff in the early 80's that pretty much sucked. N.Y. was making music before the word genre even came into music. Where I'm from N.Y. is not considered a country artist. With all these everspreading genre's maybe N.Y. deserves his own genre or however you say it. Just my opinion bro. And yes I agree it is difficult to place him here.
I forgot prarie wind last time, another excellent album.

Yeah well you could say Rock but it means so many different things without pinpointing what kinda rock it is y'know. And the 'transformer stuff' would be better described as Electronic music with weird vocals. Also I do not think it sucked I think it was absolutely fantastic, he had the guts to go out there and experiment and doesnt give a **** what people think about him. I think the 80s were the most creative period of his career. Also I like how when David Geffen said to him he will make a rock 'n' roll album he actually went out and made an original 50s rock and roll album (Everybody's Rockin') which I can listen to in small doses.
He also did an album with big keyboards and stadium drums called 'Landing On Water' which is one of my personal favourites. So he wasnt that bad in the 80s, the media wrote him off and therfore people turn their heads whereas I wish people wouldve just listened for themselves.
As for Praire Wind- 'The Painter' is a fantastic track and that is probably the only album he has done since 'Broken Arrow' (1996) which is great from start to finish. I wasn't too keen on 'Living With War'.
