* Nena Daconte is no longer a duo. Vocalist Mai Meneses goes solo, although under the same stage name. On November 2010 she published Una mosca en el cristal. In my opinion, not as good as the two earlier albums (btw, the first one has an outstanding artistic level to me), but at least it contains four or five notable songs.

* Indie band Nudozurdo has just released its third album: Tara Motor Hembra. And I love it. Superb, excellent, splendid, magnificent.... I don't know what adjectives to write in. Absolutely recommended. Even better than previous record Sintética (2008). It shows an unusual sensitivity to me. I find it captivating, emotive and exquisite at the same time. It combines an innovative sound (at least to the Spanish-language music) with introspective and metaphorical lyrics (frustration, love, self-esteem, solitude, torment, sadness, fear and other feelings).

The latter is one of the most intensely melancholic songs I've ever heard, in any language. Honestly, I have felt such an impact only a few times before in my life.

We'll continue with the emergent Chilean indie scene later on, but now we go to the neighboring country. Let's take a listen to the 60's Peruvian rock.

* Los Saicos (1964-1966). Despite its short career, this was a very influential band. At the time, its style was really original (some call it "pre-punk"). Demolición ("Demolition") and El entierro de los gatos ("The Cats' Funeral"):

* Los Shain's (1964-1969) and Los York's (1966-1974), two outstanding bands from Lima. Rock-&-roll and Psychedelic rock.

* And a young band with a revival style: Los Protones.

Now, as I promised, Andalusian rock. How did underground meet flamenco? Let's see: Late 60's and early 70's, two American military bases in Andalusia (southern Spain): Rota (Navy) and Morón (mind the accent in the 2nd o;

Air Force). It happened that the servicemen there had a good musical taste. So, through them, vinyl records containing the latest psychedelic and progressive music of the moment reached the Andalusian scene (especially the city of Seville) and influenced several local groups. As a result, unusual (and often fascinating) mixtures came up. Like these by band Smash (1968-1973):

Other significant Andalusian-rock bands:

* Triana (1974-1983): En el lago ("At the Lake", 1974) and Quiero contarte ("I Want to Tell You", 1979).

Javiera Mena. Two albums released. Electropop. These songs are Primera estrella ("First Star") and Hasta la verdad ("Till the Truth"):

Gepe. Eclectic sound (he combines different pop and folk styles).

I'm really interested in any music scenes that are non-English-speaking. I don't know much about Spanish language music but I'm happy that this thread exists! All those posts by Zabarqal look very interesting, I hope i have time to go through all of them.

Has anybody mentioned Hundergrum? They are an excellent record label specialized in Spanish psychedelic rock music from the past decades. I have their compilation "Acid Rumba: Gipsy Grooves 1969-1976" and it's very very good! Here's a short description of the compilation I found from the web: "Long-haired session musicians armed with electric guitars and drums started to get involved with flamenco and rumba singers, creating an explosive sound: fuzz & wah guitars, Moogs and Farfisa, drum breaks and soulish horns blend with exotic flamenco & rumba percussions and raw vocals."
