Shane MacGowan is gonna need more than some mouthwash and a toothbrush. A hammer might actually improve it, though that's not saying much...

No I know you weren't, however if you hooked your mum up with Shane MacGowen that'd be pretty much be the coolest thing ever.

I'm also jealous that Justin Townes Earle is opening for them, I really enjoyed his 2008 album The Good Life

Ooh - I'm jealous! I'd love to go there.
Last year my son traveled across Texas with his band. He hated Texas for the most part but loved Austin. I do have a friend in Missouri that I went to visit who's not that far from Branson but she said that it's just a yucky tourist pit so we didn't go. There's a big music scene in Athens, Georgia, too. I like a band from there called Dead Confederate.
The only bright spot out here in the boondocks of western Mass is the Iron Horse Cafe.
Savannah's mom sounds OK to me - I still think Eddie Vedder's mad hot - I only wish I could get one of my kids to go to a show with me!

Lucky gal. I'd give anything to see them do Down In the Ground Where the Dead Men Go live.

Can't remember where I heard it, but rumour has it Shane's due to finally go get his teeth done in the near future. With any luck they'll have a go at doing a new album soon enough too.

By the way, Pete, are you into Townes Van Zandt at all? If not, I can fix that for you His work is much, much older than a lot of what I've come across in this thread, but definitely is a precursor to Gothic Americana in a stylistic sense. At least that's what I got from what I've heard of him anyway.

Shane finally got his teeth fixed, my morbid curiosity led me to discover this fact:

Before:

After:

It's kind of sad that as you begin to type Shane Macgowen into google the option for his teeth pops up right away

Anyhow to answer your question regarding Townes Van Zandt; last.fm has been recommending me him for awhile now but I haven't really gone out looking for him so I'll take whatever you've got, thanks
