personally i can talk townes van zandt all day,...
alot of people immediatly think poncho and lefty,.....at least those that even know its a townes song do,.....but there's so much more out there that he did,..

i love the emotion in his voice,....i love how dark he wrote,.....and though most of his stuff is dark, to me atleast, it envokes such vivid and beautiful imagery,...

fav townes songs:
waiting around to die
him or me
to fly is to live
the catfish song
marie
rake
why she's actin this way

Dont know if theres an introduction place round here.....too late now!

I love Townes, favoutite album is probably his self titled album from 1970.....theres a great boxset of his first 7 albums (68-78)called "Texas Troubador",its quite cheap..."For The Sake Of The Song" is my favourite song of his(from the aforementioned self titled album)

His voice is mesmerising....nothing flashy about it,just gets straight to it

Good choice. I'd be lying if I said Pancho & Lefty isn't my favorite, but Don't Let the Sunshine Fool Ya and Columbine rank pretty highly on my list too.

Don't Let the Sunshine Fool Ya is one of the only songs on Townes albums he preformed and didn't write. Guy Clark wrote it and recorded it but never released it until weeks after Townes death in 1997 on his album, "The Essential Guy Clark." Anyway, great song no matter what and Townes done a heckuva job with it

Rake, Waitin' Around to Die, For the Sake of the Song, I'll Be Here in the Morning, and Fare the Well, Miss Carousel...ah heck, I like all his songs!

Yeah, I wrote that post before I heard Rake, Waitin' Round to Die or Flyin' Shoes (my new favorites).

Didn't Townes write "Snowing on Raton"? That is an awesome song.

I also hear his name dropped a lot in Pat Green songs.

I love him, Poncho and Lefty is my favorite probably no matter how popular it is. God rest his soul!
