Gary Jules
...has an amazing voice.
I swear this guy should be far more popular than he is. His brand of lo-fi folk has a great tone and often expresses more emotion than you run across in most soul artists. You probably know him from Donnie Darko (he sang the "Mad World" Tears for Fears cover at the end), but he's also got three excellent albums out and I can't wait to see what he produces next. Check him out here on the 'Tub: And pick these up if you get the chance: Greetings from the Side (1998) Tading Snakeoil for Wolftickets (2001) Gary Jules (2006) Any other fans out there?

Totally agree with both of you. He gets too little attention (as this thread attests)... really great voice and nice to listen to when you're in a mellow mood--like tonight....

I have a couple of albums by him and shamefully all I listen to is Andalucia and Mad World. However, those are two excellent songs and deserve to be listened to often.

Gears of War was cool. :_( And Mad World fit it pretty well, man.
Regarding Gary Jules, I remember seeing a Gary Jules last.fm, and Mad World had like half a million plays, and other songs had around 4,000. Pretty unfortunate. |
