I heard a fair amount of music like that in clubs in Bangalore, so maybe there's some kind of scene there (probably not).

How much Indian music have you heard? A lot of the dance numbers in Bollywood movies could be said to sound quite dancehall-like. They tend to have a steady bass drum beat quite like dancehall, although they put more rhythmic variations into the higher drums. And there tends to be a lot of singing with comparitively sparse harmonic accompaniment, some melody but not much harmony... similar to dancehall again.

If you're looking for UK produced music then, yes, you should find out about individual bands/artists. But if you're looking for music from India then a huge proportion of the recorded music is from the film industry, so you'd probably be better off identifying movies which have the right style and getting songs from those.
