Shooter Jennings
If there is anyone that listens to Shooter, what do you think of the new album, The Wolf?
|
Haven't heard the new album, but if it's anywhere near as terrible as Electric Rodeo I'll have to take a pass
|
Shooter can play country, hands down. It's not the country that you hear on the radio nowadays. None of that Kenny Chesney, Rascal Flatts bull****.
I'm not quite sure how I feel about the album yet, but I will recommend some tracks, though. "Tangled Up Roses" and his Dire Straits cover of "Walk of Life" are damn good. The one track that stands out in my mind however, is "This 'Ol Wheel". Country rap? Weird, I didn't expect Shooter to try it out but hey, if anyone can pull off country rap, Shooter is your man. |
A friend recommended this to me, but i'm not the biggest country fan. it still seems to be an exclusive genre to me.
|
I heard a few songs that I liked, but I am hoping that he will mature as a better origianal musician later on like, Hank W. Jr. did at becoming his own origianl artist, while living under his father's shadow. (I agree, hes good).

I really don't get why everyone sucks this guy's dick, I have heard a grand total of two of this guy's tunes that I can genuinely say that I like.
1) Fourth Of July 2) Sweet Savannah the rest is the same old generic crap that every other pop country radio station churns out by the boatload everyday, please sum up for me that if his last name was Smith why I should listen to him and what sets him apart. I'm waiting on baited breath for replies |
Well.....Said! MJ.

I believe he does an awesome job playing his take on classic country. There are many similarities in style and whatnot between the two, including songwriting, method in playing the instruments, and overall sound of the music. The only similarity that 'country' music of today shares with classic country for the most part, is a twang in the singers voice. But I do agree with you. '4th of July' is one of the better 'country' songs I've heard these days. And 'Sweet Savannah' is a beautiful song. I tend to call 'country' music of today Southern Pop. |
You Don't Hear Shooter On "Over The Air" Radio, but he gets tons of play on internet radio stations like mine and others.
Shooter sings real country. Its more polished than most artists that do what he does, but I guess he has a little advantage (nice pedigree) that most don't have. |
not really a huge shooter jennings fan, though i am partial to sweet savannah,.....as the world lacks 'savannah' songs,.....
i think the stuff he did was stargun is way better,..... |
shooter's newest 'single',.....
the cover of 'walk of live',.... not impressed |
Actually, I thought it was quite an excellent cover. I love anything Dire Straits / Mark Knopfler-related, though.
|
i saw him in a bar not long ago, i was drunk though and have no idea if i like him or not. i'm pretty sure i wasn't diggin it though cuz me and all my friends were ready for the break so we could humiliate ourselves on the dance floor.

I will keep coming back to Shooter there's something addictive and somehow amazing about him, Put The O Back In Country is by far a good way to start with his catalogue!
Take my word buddies, he's worthy every penny! |
I like his song "Outlaw You"
