I mean i actually love country music even though i’m not from wyoming.
But that’s because it’s relaxing and comfy in some way, with other words it’s addicting.
I must admit that it’s not really my number 1 favorite genre, and it’s not something i listen to everyday. But i’m not close minded to sit in the couch with a cup if tea, coffee or hot chocolate and listening to some good old country music.

But in the end i would mostly prefer downtempo as my comfort music, i think it has something to do with my age that i’m not a huge country fan.

In my dotage I’ve come to enjoy country. Decades of being exposed to the dumbed down Australian version made we not want to explore any further. Then I stumbled across Steve Grand & Gregory Alan Isakov and was converted. I still have one limitation, an intense dislike for slide guitar, especially as used in songs like this.

Love the horny lyrics though.

^ That would be a lap steel guitar. They have a very distinct tone and are conventionally played with it resting on the performers lap or on a stand. It can be hit/miss with me too, but Brian Whelan can make it sing, like he does on this Dwight Yoakam tune:

For true slide guitar, look into some Derek Trucks. He's one of the best on the planet right now.

I always thought I hated country until I came into contact with American Gothic - Johnny Cash, Shovels and Rope, Strawfoot - I immediately fell in love with the music

By now, aside from the pandering stuff, I enjoy it a lot. Also Bluegrass, wonderful
