Why do you like Country? (blues, rock, ballad, gospel)

pop country sucks but country as a broader genre has some fantastic music.

I like country music because it relates directly to when I was/am growing up. I know I’m not the typical college student that loves rap and that new rock ****, but I still stick true to my country roots of farming.

I think most people when they think of country music; they refer directly to the old Hank Williams and crap like that. I think the new stuff that is coming out with some of the new younger bands sounds 100,000 times better. I mean a lot of the songs I listen to, are talking about going out to the small hole in the wall bars and picking up chick (the good old days). Or going out with your boys and getting drunk and just not having a care in the world.

I'm from the West. But I'm from the West of Europe (Portugal)
I like music a lot. I like Rock, Metal, Blues, Indie, Alternative, etc...
And for the surprise of my friends I like Country music.
And it's simple why: in country music it's hard to find bad musicians, so it's easy to get good music.
You all can say that Country music it's full of "clichés" and it's always the same issues in the lyrics but I ask you if it's different in other kind of music.
In country music it's easy to get the influences of the artist and these influences cover Blues, Rock, Alternative, Indie ,southern, etc...
It's not complicated to like country if you like good music. The hard thing is to explain some pre-conceptions ideas.

about the tractor being sexy and stuff its really just a metaphor. I am a huge fan of country music. i like to listen to all types of music but i would rather listen to country. I understand what there saying for one thing and it sounds good. its not all just fast paced or slow but both.

I listen to country music for the fact that, that is where todays music got most of it's roots. If one was to study music, you would see that between blues, country and classical music. Todays music has evolved into something really spectacular. Yet you have some bands that get record deals for no apparent reason at all, but to stand on a stage in a room full of people that have no recollection of what good music really is. I find that country music is a bit sad at times, but look at other music that is listened to as well. People singing about killing others, songs of the broken hearted, songs of happiness, and songs that just don't make any sense at all. So yeah country music is the bomb. These country artists sing Gospal, sad, happy, and great songs all around, and 98% of it all makes sense to me. Just my thoughts as to your question lol.

No doubt that the country genre does have some of the finest and most versatile musicians and engineers in the world. Even the thrown-together "demos' coming out of Nashville are usually highly produced and although not mixed for radio, sure sound like it.

To note too is the country genre is more accepting of other types melting into the old sound so we tend to have all kinds of sub-genres in what is labeled as "country."
