I was really surprised when they won. I was also very pissed off that they won. I am a huge country music fan, and I have never despised a group than these girls. Well it is actually the lead singer I despise more than anything. I tried listening to their cd and I had to turn it off. The only reason they won was by Hollywood trying make some kind of statement. They aren't even Country. Personally I believe that Carrie Underwood deserved Country album of the year. Because it was just simply amazing. If anyone here wants to tell me they deserved it again. Please feel free. I have PLENTY more to say. They are a disgrace to Country Music. Again this is just my opinion although I'm sure MANY others share this with me. TOBY KEITH RULES!!!

Oh lord, ok first of all before every teen member with a soapbox and a mouth comes in here let me say that I hope this remains civil.
Ok 1. I disagree 2. If their not country (and their certainly not pop) what are they? 3. Carrie Underwood is manufactored trash, unless an American Idol winner is pop, then they have no place winning anything. 4. Honestly, country music is a disgrace to country music, What is country music these days? Well you know what, on second thought its mostly manufactored trash, so maybe you're right, maybe she should have won. 5. They didn't win because it was hollywood, they won (if any dispariging remark is to be made) because the Grammy's suck horribly. 6. May I ask why you dispise them? Or Natalie Maines (sp?). Please lord don't say because she knew what the half of the country is just getting now years ago. 7. Toby Keith writes lyrics about things people want to hear so he can sell records. 8. If crowquill, magnamarkudhfgs, or any female comes in here, just ignore them.

I'm going to make a productive post now, all "country" today is basically pop with steel guitars. Country radio today is terrible, and the only country song i've heard on it when i've had to listen to it is the occasional Johnny Cash song thats thrown on for credibility. To wrap this up, everyone should listen to All My Rowdy Friends Have Settled Down and Long Black Veil.
That is all. |

Dixie chix rule
I don't hav any of their CD's, but I love the songs, 'Wide Open Spaces, Landslide, & the new one'. They deserve mad props for speaking their mind about the war before it was very popular to do so. Also, I agree w/ the guy on here: Toby Keith sucks, writing songs about America will put a boot up your ass, and the taliban sucks. C'mon, it's like those idiots driving around w/ the piss on Bid Laden stickers. Piss on Bin Laden, really? Here in America, wow that takes a lot of guts. I'd like to see those people drive around Afghanistan w/ those stickers on their car, if they feel so strongly about that sentiment

First off Toby Keith doesn't write songs just to sell records. Like everyone in country music he writes songs about what he feels. Honestly when 9/11 happened I'm pretty sure everyone in America was like lets go get those terrorists. People were looking for anything but a peaceful agreement. Now getting off politics. I have to disagree with country just being pop with steel guitars. I'll admit that country isn't what it used to be anymore. That's all because like everything else in music it has evolved throughout time. Every artist that comes along will always have differnt influences than the next person. And through those influences the the person will find their sound. It's not just going to be just straight country anymore. Which is sad in a way but well thats just how it is. Also from the first person who responded to my post. Carrie Underwood is not manufactured trash. First off this girl has raw singing talent. No training whatsoever. By the way just to be clear Rascal Flatts is country. I'm sick of people saying that their "Western Pop". That's not even a genre. I'll even settle for Country/Rock or Contemporary Country.
