Jolie Holland

I'm honestly inspired by her, shes got the vibe of Norah Jones (that half jazz half willie nelson vibe) and the stealthy Waits/Richards blues dagger to her style.

My favorite song is easily "Old Fashioned Morphine". For example, she took brass, easily the most aggressive instrument created and used it to make subtle accents and harmonies on a track that sounds like the earth down in the mississippi delta wrote and sang it itself. Probably one of my favorite artists around right now on the folk circuit.

Well first off, its a killer title.

Secondly, the bass part in the intro is beautiful. The horn part and whistling is put in at the perfect time, and its got a really nice sound to it over all. The music paints the image in my head of Olympia in the spring.

Her voice is also very pretty, it flows with the music perfectly and it has this very nice sound to it and she sounds so effortless.

Lyrically, it assists in painting that image in my head, "Roses all are blooming
lilacs all aglow honeysuckle vine shine shine oh get out, get out of your house". Amazing lyrics.

All in all its a very solid song and i've listened to it quite a few times now. I like it alot.

khappy?
