I need to agree with that one. I actually saw him in concert, a few years ago. I mainly went for Jerry Douglas, and I will always remember the crowd banter. People wondering why Richard was opening up for Jerry. Well, I won't get involved in THAT debate, but I was very impressed by his guitar playing. Since then, I have become more familiar with his work with Fairport Convention. That is where his acoustic licks really shine.
Oh, and for those of you who are getting excited about that double bill? It was one of the FREE concerts held in downtown Salt Lake City, every summer. Richard Thompson, Jerry Douglas, free of charge. That's a trifecta, if there ever was one!
