Folk n00b
 

Well...as of late..ive been getting into folk..some stuff kind of like Acoustic Indie folk rock...and then TheBig3 showed me Sufjan Stevens who i like a lot....im open for any suggestions..An Upload would be very handy :)

Elliott Smith, The Shins, Iron & Wine, Belle & Sebastian, The Decemberists, Built to Spill, Nuetral Milk Hotel, Wilco, The Microphones. Not really true folk but more or less similar artists that I think you'll like. I think if you listen to Bob Dylan, Pete Seeger, and Woody Guthrie you'll be able to appreciate the older stuff.

Espers, Six Organs of Admittence.. id recommend just getting into modern stuff first.

The White Stripes's first albums sound a bit folkish, and some "real" folk artists I like are Jim Croce, Harry Chapin, America, Harry Nilsson.

Nick Drake , Fairport Convention & Gorkys Zygotic Mynci I would say are my favourite folk artists
