I agree entirely, my only point is that I can see where they are coming from. And I have heard of them, i have a few of their albums actually. they take that whole balkan/ eastern european orchestra idea to an extreme but do it really well. i got into them when i was going through my whole, "find any and all music that came out of Neutral Milk Hotel and/ or the Elephant Six collective." though, i am still going through that lol. i've been really into Julian Koster's The Music Tapes, great ****.

but to get back on topic, Beirut is awesome.

I wish I had his Creativity, attractiveness, ability to play a wide range of instruments and ability to sing. What's not great about this guy?

Love Beirut. I actually only discovered the Lon Gisland ep because I heard a friend compare it to Neutral Milk Hotel, which people around here seem to bring up but people have failed to mention that Jeremy Barnes of Neutral Milk Hotel was actually an early member of Beirut.

that makes sense if you listen to a hawk and a hacksaw (jeremy barnes' band) you here the same balkan influences, of course a hawk and a hacksaw is very traditional compared to beirut.

You're right, it is.. the realpeople holland/march of the zapotec deal. They sound completely different too, never really understood the point of that.

has anyone seen them live? i am headed to coachella, but i know they are going to have time conflicts with about 2 other artist i want to see. i appreciate the music, but i am worried it wont translate to a good live show.

march of the zapotec is the EP realpeople is a release of some electronic music he was working on while writing gulag orkestar
