Default Severe Depression

Honestly, im kinda pissed the folk forum is a relative ghost town. I realize our demographic is relativly young, and hey, I didn't listen to folk when I was 14, but to be more fair, when I was 14 it was like...1997 and we didn't relaly have any folk to speak of, not to mention a buergeoning folk movement.

For the other loyal folkies out there, is there something we can do to move this sedintery coffin back to life?

I've tried suggesting new music, I've posted links, I've even offered to send CD's and songs to people via AIM. Can someone throw me a bone here?

I don't know any folk.
Only semi-folk I know is Bright Eyes.
And they're not even folk..
I dunno.
The country forum isn't doing too hot either.
*shrugs*

Adidasss is just mad at me these days because he thinks I called him a post whore (I didn't, but I can't get through to him). Actually depending on the track angie, Bright Eyes is folk.

I won't give you CD's but I'll give you tracks to check out:

Iron & Wine - Cinder and Smoke
Devenda Banhart - Long Haired Child
Nelly McKay - BB Blues

Acchuleh, this post was made before that post whoring buisness, and it's a mere fact sir, I HAVE made threads that you haven't bothered to check out in the folk forum which would make this thread a bit hypocritical, and I wouldn't be the forum bastard you all know and love if i didn't call you out on it. And even though your comment about spamming wasn't directly aimed at me sir, it is clear that I am in the group of people you were reffering to ( and you still haven't elaborated on your statement, i reiterate, if a person has a bigger post count than you sir, it can also mean they talk a lot more about music than you, not so hard to grasp I think).

Less bitching more bantering...

Big3 feel free to send me folk stuff I may not know of. I'll PM you

I also think it might not be so much that no-one listens to folk, but more no-one knows how to classify things most of the time, or knowing things will get read by more people in say the indie/alt forum, folky bands are more likely gonna be posted there.

I'll PM you since you havn't done it yet. The freak folk movement is honestly something I think people should get behind.

Traditional folk, or most of it thats done recently, has been very blah, its like eating napkins, zero taste, no nutritional value. Alot of the folk specific genres, blues, country, reagee, celtic are whats supplying the flavor, but these new guys are really supporting the genre and i'd love to see them get more recognition on the boards.

Before I go and download one of these albums what would you say is the best out of the three?
