I've been listening to Blood on the Tracks a lot the last couple days. I listened to it so much that it kind of got put on the back burner, but I haven't been able to stop listening to it now. I think it might take my take as best Dylan album. Definitely in my top 5. I really love the way he sings on that album. Like in the song "if you see her say hello", the little twang he uses when he says "like lovers often will". And the way he raises his voice for certain lines like "and though our seperation". I can't explain it, but I love it.

I've heard so many people say they absolutely love Blood but so far it hasn't clicked yet. Like, each individual song has interesting imagery and, like you said, has some pretty neat and different singing from Dylan. But I rarely make it through the entire album all at once and I often only listen to it when I'm in a really specific kind of mood. So not saying I dislike it, it seems really good, just that I haven't really taken to it completely yet.

I felt the same. When I first heard "buckets of rain" I had to turn it after about 30 seconds, but now I absolutely love the song and the entire album. There's not a song that I can skip except "jack of hearts", but now that song is beginning to stick on me as well. One thing I've noticed about listening to Dylans music is that at first, a lot of it will sound like crap. But for some reason it ends up clicking at a later time.

Most people will say "Highway 61 Revisited'' or "Blonde on Blonde", but even more than these two, I recommend you "Blood on the Tracks", for it was the first album that really got me into Dylan. Up to this day it's still my favorite album of his.
And, by the way, I consider the "Freewheelin" his best lyrical album, too. And maybe if it's Dylan's best lyrical album, it could easily be the best lyrical album of all time, too.

Yes, Blood On The Tracks is an outstanding album - though, of course, it`s not easy to pin down Dylan`s best work. You may get some ideas from this thread, if you haven`t seen it already:-
