Johnny Cash is soon approaching that Nirvana-ian level where I start to hate him because of his aftermath. It seems to me Johnny Cash is what people hide behind when someone starts talking about country music and they want to say something but have no exposure.
I just get it in my thick skull that someone heard "hurt" on KROQ and felt it was ok to download his covers. I think I'd respect Cash "fans" more if they listened to his gospel albums, just so I knew that they liked him across the board.

His gospel music is the stuff!! If you like that Big 3, you should listen to his 'My mothers hymn book' album. Amazing stuff.

And then I realized... like I was shot... like I was shot with a diamond... a diamond bullet right through my forehead. And I thought: My God... the genius of that. |

Sanctified was alright, but "It was Jesus" is amazing.

I agree with you. Reading the Johnny Cash threads on here makes me wonder if any of these kids have heard anything beyond the American Recordings series of albums.
