'jaunty' or dramatic piano or organ pieces
Hello.
I'm looking for jaunty solo piano or organ music and also dramatic solo piano or organ music. Doesn't have to be strictly classical but I thought this was the best place to post the query. 2 'upbeat' pieces I have found so far are waltz no. 2 by Shostakovich and piano versions of 'Heart and Soul' (depending on how it's played). I like the bouncy bass but not being well versed in music I don't know the right terminology to find similar pieces. I've been searching waltzes on YouTube but not finding anything similar. Also any recommendations for dramatic music as mentioned above would be great as well please. Thanks very much |
What the hell qualifies as "jaunty" lol?

Hi.
Jaunty means 'having or expressing a lively, cheerful, and self-confident manner' Also I tried to expand on this by referring to 'upbeat' and saying I like the 'bouncy bass' in the 2 pieces mentioned. |
Anyone have any suggestions at all? Maybe what I'm after is quite rare??!!

For jaunty and dramatic solo piano or organ music, you might enjoy exploring various genres beyond classical. Here are some recommendations that capture the lively, bouncy bass you appreciate:
Jaunty Pieces: Scott Joplin's ragtime compositions, such as "The Entertainer" and "Maple Leaf Rag," are lively and full of character, with syncopated rhythms and a bouncy feel. Jelly Roll Morton's piano works, like "King Porter Stomp" and "The Pearls," blend ragtime with early jazz, featuring energetic bass lines and playful melodies. Fats Waller's stride piano pieces, such as "Ain't Misbehavin'" and "Honeysuckle Rose," showcase lively rhythms and virtuosic piano playing. Dramatic Pieces: Franz Liszt's "Mephisto Waltz No. 1" is a dramatic and virtuosic work that tells the story of Faust and Mephistopheles, featuring intense passages and rich harmonies. Sergei Rachmaninoff's Prelude in C# minor, Op. 3 No. 2, is a dramatic and passionate piece with a haunting melody and powerful chords. Modest Mussorgsky's "Pictures at an Exhibition" contains "The Great Gate of Kiev," a grand and dramatic finale that showcases the full range of the piano. These pieces should provide a good starting point for exploring jaunty and dramatic solo piano and organ music. Enjoy your musical journey! |
