Nice run, Hawk. All interesting picks.

Monteverdi: Teatro D'Amore Christina Pluhar (2009, 'L'Arpeggiata)
Spotify Edition YouTubeMusic

Beautiful playing and (especially) singing of Claudio Monterverdi's material. Spent the early morning with the album. The jazz riffing took me off guard but the early music ensemble have it all well in hand. Highly Recommended.

Local Objects Zsofia Boros (2016, ECM) Spotify Edition

Hungarian born guitarist is obviously a bearer of the traditions of the great Spanish masters but her touch is hushed and unhurried. Listened to it on my morning walk. Splendid.

Longtime Metropolitan Opera Conductor, James Levine (June 23, 1943 – March 9, 2021) R.I.P.

American Masters: James Levine: America's Maestro (2011, Susan Froemke)

If PBS had any idea how to make money they'd make the entire American Masters series available to both purchase and stream. Why this needle-in-a-haystack searching for material that should be readily available for anyone wanting to explore the world of the arts? There are several episodes on APrime but nowhere near the full 35 seasons. At any rate, the Levine episode is on YouTube in several parts (just allow them to play in succession).

Tchaikovsky The Seasons Brigitte Engerer (1982, Philips)

This is a 2010 Universal Music remastering of the 1982 recording. I was completely unfamiliar with these solo piano pieces by Tchaikovsky until today. Nice discovery.
