Default Perhaps the answer at last

Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco was listed in the opening film credits for "Musical score: M. Castelnuovo-Tedesco"

With a little more research on the Wikipedia, apparently a number of films music have been credited to him.

My film of interest was specifically listed:

And Then There Were None (René Clair, 1945)

Further research pointed to a document: US Library of Congress, Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco Papers, Guides to Special Collections in the Music Division of the Library of Congress

I downloaded the document, but the above mentioned film was not specifically listed. But there are 159 'boxes' of his information on file there. So, perhaps he was the composer of the piece I have been researching. He wrote many musical items during his tenure. But he also passed away in 1968.
