Default Is Porgy & Bess an opera or a musical?

I guess it depends how you define them. Anyway I just saw that it's on in London (England) on Friday 10th June at the Barbican Hall. I think I'll go, as it's not performed so often.

To me it is a musical... but that is just my opinion.

Porgy and Bess is considered to be an opera, but there was a lot of dispute over that question when its production first began in 1935
