No matter how many times I watch him do it...
...it is still amazing.
Maisky is a talent for sure. And although I've seen other artists play the most recognizable bit, I still hold this guy in very high regard. His other performances are awesome as well, especially his more recent renditions of pieces not formally played via Cello. It should probably be noted that Cello is my favorite of all orchestral instruments. :D |
That is my favorite J.S. Bach peice, it is a popular peice for classical guitar players. I (try to) play it on guitar and octave mandolin, and but the cello does sound the best.

I can not listen to that suite anymore, but Mischa is awesome so here's some Rachmaninov is balance that baroque **** out.
The rubato-heavy phrasing those two can stretch out in this one is so mmmph. Maisky's tone is gorgeous. |
Well done.

Skip past Lang Lang to about 3:30

I had never actually heard any of Tchaikovsky's chamber music before, that was awesome! While Lang Lang isn't exactly my favorite pianist, I loved the part around 5:45 where he and Maisky have the call and answer part. Gonna have to check this piece out fo sho. Thanks for sharing it!
Gotta post one of my favorite concerto movements ever before I head to bed. Dat climax. <3 |
Yea, Lang Lang doesn't really get a lot of love in general for his interpretations. I sorta agree with that, not to say he isn't talented or anything.
Anyway, I enjoyed what you posted. It's going on my fave list. But in doing so, I have to post what's possibly the cheesiest representation of good Classical, but is balanced by the sheer good selections (albeit the most popular ones, which doesn't really detract from the quality IMO), and is bolstered by the simple fact that it's 6 and a half hours long, and actually flows pretty well... I'd like to see something like this with different content. And something that doesn't categorize it as "piano music".... |
Yes! You have very good tastes in music lol!

Julian Bream; Bach Prelude in D . Christopher Parkening - Bach: Prelude No. 1 in C major BWV 846 Jacques Bono, you think since he went all out to rent a tux he could afford to get shoes as well. His verison lacks dynamics, and it's not expressive - he plays it fast and furious. It's still amazing to watch. .Bach Cello Suite 1 Prelude BWV1007 Bono Bass Solo . |
