No matter how many times I watch him do it...

...it is still amazing.

Maisky is a talent for sure. And although I've seen other artists play the most recognizable bit, I still hold this guy in very high regard. His other performances are awesome as well, especially his more recent renditions of pieces not formally played via Cello.

It should probably be noted that Cello is my favorite of all orchestral instruments. :D

That is my favorite J.S. Bach peice, it is a popular peice for classical guitar players. I (try to) play it on guitar and octave mandolin, and but the cello does sound the best.

I never even considered it as playable on a guitar with any justice. If you ever record yourself, you gotta share it. (or some classical guitarists you think did it well so I don't have to go searching!)

I can not listen to that suite anymore, but Mischa is awesome so here's some Rachmaninov is balance that baroque **** out.

The rubato-heavy phrasing those two can stretch out in this one is so mmmph. Maisky's tone is gorgeous.

Well done.

I was saying good choice. Now I have to go find one I thought was awesome that doesn't get much play.

Skip past Lang Lang to about 3:30

I had never actually heard any of Tchaikovsky's chamber music before, that was awesome! While Lang Lang isn't exactly my favorite pianist, I loved the part around 5:45 where he and Maisky have the call and answer part. Gonna have to check this piece out fo sho. Thanks for sharing it!

Gotta post one of my favorite concerto movements ever before I head to bed.

Dat climax. <3
