as an adult, when i took piano, despite having a vast knowledge of jazz music theory, the teacher still taught me as if I was a child
the only difference was of course, that she was attracted to me
i got to Grade 3, ain't no virtuoso but i can transcribe a lot of guitar stuff to the piano
