What is your favorie Suite or Overture
 

Personally I think the Planet Suite is the best suite ever compose, but you be the judge.

Yes, a very good suite, one of my favorites. But also in there is the Nutcracker Suite, and the Lt. Kajiv Suite(sp? I don't have my scores on me). Both are very good pieces, a bit tricky at times, yes, but who in music doesn't enjoy a good challenege?

I have to look that up I never heard of the Kajiv Suite, as far as the Nutcrackerits a very good suite. I can't really get into it myself especially the Russain Dance. The planet Suite is so mature a nd elegant for its time 1916-1918 especially from a man who was going through a mid life crisis. Thanks for your response

Don't forget the Lt. part. I'm fairly sure I spelt it wrong, as I don't have my score on me. I'll check the correct spelling tomorrow and post it. One of the works in it is "Troika".

And I'll agree, the Nutcracker suite isn't exactly the best of the best, but it's still a very good composition. It's more of a fun piece, in my opinion.

My knowledge of classical is sorta limited, but I would have to say my favorite is probably the Nutcracker like bandteacher mentioned. You can't go wrong with it, around this time of year especially. :)

I do hear this Planet suite getting talked about hear and there though, and I'm gonna check it out when I get the chance. Sounds interesting for sure.

I figured out that it's spelt Lt. Kive. The e has a ` over it.

And speakingf of the Nutcracker Suite, we started the Chinese Dance of the Nutcracker Suite today. Very........interesting results. XD

Mozart's Le Nozze Di Figaro overture and Beethoven's Coriolan overture are two of my favorites.

Two very good selections, indeed.
