Help me learn...
Ok, here's the deal. ive never touched a piano, or any serious musical instruement for as long as i can remember. But my favorite composer is Bach, I really really want to get into musical theory, and understand more about Counterpoint specifically, but I don't even know the basics! I didn't pay much attention in music classes.
Does anyone have any resources that will help me understand more about Baroque music? I, again, really want to learn this to gain a better appreciation and understanding. But, unfortunately, these resources aren't readily available to me, so I'm hoping someone here will know of a place I can go to online, to atleast get the basics, to understand. Im talking about the REALLY REALLY early basics, Im basically clueless on music bar a few terms. I dont really know how it works, what harmony is, what melodies are, etc. I also understand I wont be able to get into the more complex stuff until I learn about the above, so please list some knowledgeable reccomendations! |

Piano is a very hard instrument to learn yourself. So I'd recommend finding a piano teacher/ tutor if you're serious.
But other things to look at to help you learn: - online videos/ tutorials - look up baroque music on the net, see what you can learn about it - basic music theory books/ internet site tutorials - guide to learning classical music books/ internet sites (because once you've learnt about classical music is easy to move about in learning other things.) |

This is very true. You aren't going to get anywhere with out at least a few lessons just to learn the basics of technique and such. Piano can be extremely complicated especially when you're focusing on Bach.
