A theory on classical music from a Rock Music fan
yea, u see the thread title and immediatly expect the insults to fly at the classical genre from all angles. Well sorry folks but the sh*t hasnt quite hit the fan yet.
see i admit, i aint the biggest classical music fan. yea, i kno beethoven, bach... the buroch period (if thats how you spell it), so not much really. but every form of music has its place in society and rather than belittle classical music i have to admit that without it we wouldnt have rock, pop or even blues. im only 17 so perhaps dont appreciate it enough but classical started it all. |
What was the point of this thread?
BTW great grammar and spelling :) |
the point of this thread? strictly educational..i suppose

It's Baroque
Its Baroque btw. It does take a bit of an ear and understanding of theory to truly apreciate the music you have deamed "clasical." Actualy there are several periods you have just lumped together, which include but are not limited to Baroque, classical, Renesaunce, and modern ( Stuff built entirly off of chromatic scales in many cases if memory serves correct.) Just for fun the next time you listen to Muse (absolution album) pay close atention to the "clasical" conventions that are so prevelent throughout the compasitions. Another Album to check out would be Vinne Moore "The Maze" or "Minds Eye" www.vinniemoore.com

And I thought rock lovers were crazy......

Me and My Friends spent the afternoon listening to a classical compilation CD, certain songs made me think of english women having tea and they kind of pissed me off but the majority of they songs on it were excellent. I tip my baseball cap to the curly powdered wigs of the classical composers of olde.

Some classical music is good. It's ignorance not to be able to appreciate good classical music.
