Default Air on the G string

I tried to research for the history of Air on the G string. But i have no luck in finding the actual history. what i found was too brief, and the history isn't too much about this song of Bach's.

I also need to find out what the title means and what larger work is it from?

does anyone know where i can search for it. I have tried wikipedia, mangore and one website written by a studnet and that was what i found.

thanks

It's from Suite in D.
It's in the baroque style (that's why it's called air).

That's really all I know about it, sorry.

Look up the group Libera's version of this. It's my favorite. Check YouTube .
